Our Mission
The RSO Service Coalition connects Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) at George Mason University with community partners and resources to create meaningful opportunities for service, civic engagement, and collaboration. Through shared support, leadership development, and partnerships, we empower student organizations to strengthen their impact both on campus and in the community.
What We Do?
The coalition supports students in their dreams of service to the community, providing structure and capacity for student organizations, and getting them further connected with local community nonprofit and governmental agencies. Hitting on the shared mission of the mason community aligning with an emphasis on cross campus collaboration and exploration.
Community Impact
The RSO Service Coalition strengthens the connection between student organizations, the university, and the broader community by expanding access to resources, service opportunities, and leadership development.
In its first semester, the Coalition provided nearly $1,000 in funding to support service-focused student organizations across campus.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Coalition connects student organizations with meaningful volunteer opportunities and community partnerships through collaboration with CECiL.
Service Projects
Through partnerships with CECiL and community organizations, the Coalition supports RSOs in developing and participating in impactful service projects that address community needs.
Leadership Development
The Coalition provides opportunities for student organizations to strengthen their leadership capacity through trainings, professional development, and direct connections with community engagement professionals. In collaboration with full-time community engagement staff, the Coalition expands access to resources and learning opportunities that prepare students to lead effective and sustainable service initiatives.

No! While the Coalition supports service-oriented organizations, we welcome any RSO interested in incorporating community engagement, volunteerism, service projects, or civic learning opportunities into their organization’s activities.

Affiliated RSOs gain access to community partnerships, service opportunities, leadership development, trainings, funding resources, and connections with the Office of Community Engagement and Civic Learning (CECiL) and other campus and community partners.
