Are you registered to vote? Make sure you register by your state's deadline!

There is no national voter registration deadline. Voters in each state and territory must follow their voter registration laws.

 

State  Registration Deadlines
Virginia 
  • General Elections are 22 days before election
  • Primary Elections are 22 days before election
  • Special Elections are 14 days before election
  • Special Elections (Called by the Governor) are 7 days before election

Voters may register through Election Day, and vote using a provisional ballot.

Maryland
  • Online registration deadline: 21 days before Election Day
  • Register by mail deadline: Must be postmarked 21 days before Election Day
  • In person registration deadline: Available up to and including on Election Day

D.C.  All voter registration applications and updates submitted online and by mail must be received by the Board by no later than the 21st day before the election in which you wish to vote. If you submit a voter registration application or update online or by mail and it is received after the 21st day before the election, your application will not be processed until after the election.

West Virginia

To vote in the next election, you must register at least 21 days before the date of the election.
