The Office of Community Engagement and Civic Learning (CECiL) at George Mason University partners with local community-based organizations to provide George Mason University students the opportunity to engage in Community-Based Federal Work Study (FWS). The FWS program provides part-time employment for undergraduate and graduate students who are eligible as evidenced in their financial package, allowing them to earn tax-free money to help pay education expenses.

Marketing Media Specialist
ECHO is hiring a Marketing Media Production Specialist. ECHO (Ecumenical Community Helping Others), a local community-based organization, is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides assistance to individuals/families in need within the Burke/Springfield community by offering food, clothing, housewares, and financial assistance for housing/utilities. ECHO was formed on May 22, 1968, when representatives from nine Springfield churches met to discuss and identify ways in which the churches of Springfield could meet social needs in the community on an ecumenical basis.
Major duties of the Marketing Media Production Specialist are to: develop, produce, maintain digital library of information and instructional videos on what ECHO does and how it does it for three major target audiences:
- Donors, community partners – to enhance their understanding of ECHO’s mission and operations as well as the needs and limits associated with both;
- Volunteers – to keep them informed and up-to-date regarding operations across the ECHO enterprise and ECHO’s impact on the community;
- Clients- to provide instructions on how to take advantage of ECHO support, from making appointments (Food, Clothing, Financials) to what to expect when showing up for an appointment.
- Conceptualize, plan, and execute video products from start to finish, including storyboarding, scriptwriting, filming, editing, and post production.
Maintain up-to-date postings of those videos on ECHO media platforms (online portal, Facebook, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with ECHO teams (Donations, Counselors, Communications) to ensure accuracy of information and instruction content, and the suitability of that content for the intended audiences (donors, clients, community partners) to achieve the desired effects.
- Produce creative and engaging video content for ECHO platforms, including websites, social media channels, YouTube, and other digital platforms.
- Edit and enhance raw footage, ensuring high-quality visuals, clear audio, and smooth transitions.
- Utilize various video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or other industry-standard software, to edit and manipulate video content as needed.
- Monitor video performance metrics, such as views, engagement, and conversions, and provide insights and recommendations for future video content.
- Attend/Complete orientation and trainings coordinated by CECiL
- Complete end of employment task to earn CECiL certificate
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
- Strong knowledge of video production, including lighting, sound, composition, and visual storytelling techniques.
- Ability to interpret the ECHO’s “brand” voice and style, ensuring videos align with ECHO’s guidelines and overall marketing strategy.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to seamlessly edit footage, add visual effects, and enhance overall video quality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to bring innovative ideas and concepts to video projects.
- Understanding ECHO’s needs for video content to inform and instruct appropriate target audiences.
- Familiarity with video analytics and tracking tools to measure video performance and make data-driven decisions.
Required Qualifications

- HS Diploma
- Submit a sample of previous video production efforts
- Individual will need their own filming equipment
Work Environment: ECHO is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit. There are no paid staff. ECHO also owns its own property and buildings, meaning, other than building maintenance and insurance costs, the majority of donations go directly to helping neighbors in need. Work is primarily in-office, working with physical and electronic documents in an administrative area. As a means to acclimate her/him to ECHO, its operations, and the intended target audiences for the media product, the media production specialist will spend a period working with other volunteers in various sections.
