Parking and Carpool Information

Campus Location/Parking
The meeting will be held in 1201 Merten Hall on the George Mason University Fairfax campus (4441 George Mason Blvd. Fairfax, VA 22030) located as #1 on the campus map. Look for the Panda Express and Einstein Bagels. You can park in visitor parking in the Rappahannock Visitor Parking located as #41 on the campus map (Directly next to Merten Hall). Once you park, you will need to go to the pay station located towards the entrance before and use the validation code provided in your email to pay for your parking prior to the event
You will need to remember your space number and enter in the amount of time you will need to anticipate you will be at the event. I would recommend just putting in 8 hours. Then you will have an option to enter the validation code. Please be sure to do this before leaving the parking garage so that you don't get a parking ticket. We will have someone at the parking garage to help troubleshoot if there are any issues.
As it is a Friday we are hoping there will be enough parking to accommodate everyone but please note there are two other parking garages for visitors that you can utilize. Mason Pond is located as #40 on the campus map and Shenandoah is located as #42 on the campus map. If you end up having to park out at those locations, let us know at registration. Those parking garages work differently so you would use a validation ticket when you leave campus, so you don't need to worry about any codes.
GMU Faculty, Staff and Students- if you already have a Mason parking pass, please leave these visitor spaces open/available for our colleagues from across the state.
Carpooling to the Conference
As shared before, the wonderful Steve Grande from James Madison University reached out looking for potential folks to carpool with on Thursday and we thought that was a wonderful idea! I found a website that will allow us to coordinate this more easily and will hopefully be effective. Group Carpool allows folks to add their names as Drivers and for folks who are interested in carpooling with someone else. Here is the link for our VA EngageMeeting: for a tutorial about how to use this website, see the demo video made by the app creator. As many folks are coming from similar locations, I hope you’ll consider using this tool and making a friend to share in your journey! We have two colleagues that are looking for potential drivers one in Lexington and one in Harrisonburg. If you are passing through, consider making a new friend and enjoy an adventure!
