Bonner Leader Spotlight
Community Partner Site: Children's Science Center
Nimisha Timsina is a City Year AmeriCorps Alumni. Spending the past year serving in an underprivileged and under resourced school. She taught in a first-grade classroom, within the neighborhoods of D.C., working many different roles under her position such as: a near-peer mentor and tutor, STEM Leader, a friend to children, a teacher to students, and a citizen serving her country. The year was cut short due to the pandemic, but she continued to provide support to her students by transitioning to an online setting.
After her year of service finished in early June of 2020, she started attending George Mason University where she will be working towards her teaching licensure. She is currently working towards a degree in Government and International Politics. She hopes to learn how to close the education gap through efficient policies that can be implemented throughout her country.
In her role as a Bonner, Nimisha has been partnering with the Children's Science Center where she helps to lead STEM workshops and programs for youth and families in the community.
