2017 Service Fair Recap

GMU Service Fair 2017

On Monday, September 11, SAIL (Social Action & Integrative Learning) hosted the 9/11 Day Of Service Fair as part Mason Nation's 9/11 Day of Service, to honor veterans who responded to the attacks sixteen years earlier. More than forty-five community organizations came out to share their missions, passions, and resources.

Organizations tended to a diverse range of social issues, like homelessness, science and education, healthcare and legal services, family care, and more. Students and passersby stopped to speak with coordinators, network and exchange information, and get general insight into each company mission. Community partners provided students with several ways to volunteer, through internships, jobs, events, and collaborative opportunities.

Service is truly defined by those who aided in relief efforts post-September 11. It is meant to be genuine, selfless, heroic, and done wholeheartedly. It reminds people of their rights as citizens, as community members, and as patriots united.

Thank you to community partners, volunteers, and organizations for coming out, sharing your thoughts, and informing others on how the GMU community can contribute!
