Puerto Rico Renace- Rebirth and Resilience in the Aftermath of the Storms

In the wake of Hurricane Maria in 2017, Puerto Rico is continuing to rebuild and renew its strength with the courage and resilience of its people. Mason students will be traveling to different parts of Puerto Rico working on repairing homes effected by hurricane Maria with SBP Puerto Rico, dune & beach restoration with the Universidad de Puerto Rico, preparing food & hygiene distribution with Fundacion Laza de Amor, and learn more from additional organizations and projects happening on the ground.

Anticipated cost: $500 (not including airfare)

 

Transportation: Flight to San Juan and van while on island

Dates:  March 7-14

Housing: Air BnB 

Community Partners: SBP (formerly St. Bernard Project) Disaster Relief/Construction, Casa Pueblos, Center for Ecological Restoration and Coastal Conservation Marine Life 

Food- Cooking own meals
